Here at Mint Security, we’re passionate about keeping people and their property safe from criminals. That’s why, when we heard a recent news story about one of our valued customers, we were left completely shocked and very unsettled. The local crime has highlighted why CCTV is so important, so we decided to share the story with you in order to spread the word.
In the Summer of 2017, a premeditated crime was carried out on a local elderly couple by someone they knew – and trusted. As their former care worker, the woman from Worksop had the confidence and trust of the couple when she turned up on their doorstep, still dressed in her old uniform. After gaining access to the house, the perpetrator heartlessly stole a wallet full of money from the vulnerable couple.
While the story was not a happy one for the elderly couple involved, there is a silver lining in the fact that the thief was caught. And it was all thanks to the recently installed CCTV. Had it not be for the CCTV camera, it’s likely that there would have been no substantial evidence against the woman, and she would have got away with her crime. This story has highlighted why CCTV is so important for homeowners, particularly if they’re vulnerable
Burglary is one of the most common crimes in the UK. The latest data on crime from the Office of National Statistics puts the number of burglaries at approximately 686,000 in the year ending September 2016. UK citizens are still more likely to be victims of burglary than any other crime. In Nottinghamshire there were 750 burglaries in November alone, and 570 in Derbyshire. While there has been a noticeable decrease in the number of burglaries nationwide in recent years, no doubt thanks to the advancements of security systems, these figures are still worrying for homeowners.
There are many ways that homeowners can protect themselves and their property, and CCTV is one of the most important. Whether you need one single camera or a multi-camera set-up for your home, we can help you to install top of the range, sophisticated cameras that will provide evidence should a crime take place in and around your home.
